k(no)w poverty? Lecture Series

Speaker: Ms. Lisa Pierce, Founder & Director of Alabama Rural Ministry

Lecture Title: Hope for Homes: An overview of housing and it’s importance in community development

Ms. Pierce is originally from Daytona Beach, Florida. She attended Auburn University for college and graduated with a B.S. in Animal Science in 1995. Thereafter she took a position with the University of West Alabama’s Wesley Foundation in 1996 and in 1998 she founded the Alabama Rural Ministry (ARM). In 2001 Lisa moved back to the Auburn/Opelika area to operate ARM from Lee County. Lisa has been in the Alabama National Guard for 24 years and is currently a Lieutenant Colonel serving as a Battalion Commander in Huntsville, Alabama. Lisa obtained a Masters of Counseling and Psychology at University of West Alabama and she is currently pursuing a Masters of Arts in Christian Leadership through Asbury Seminary in Orlando.

Students and community members are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to the event for donation to the Campus Food Pantry.
