How long have you been with the Honors College?
Only eight months – I’m the newest member of the team.
Briefly, what do you do for the Honors College?
Most of you know me as the guy who walks around taking photos with his iPad. As the communication staff member, I also design our collateral pieces and newsletters, write releases, prepare and promote events, and monitor all of our social media accounts. I love reading all your tweets and seeing your Instagram photos – I feel like I know you all, even if we’ve never met in person.
What’s your favorite class or event offered by the Honor College?
I have a feeling there will be more events I will come to love, but so far my favorite has been the k(no)w poverty? week of service. It was great to witness individuals coming together from different places and backgrounds and identifying early on what being steward of the community and being an Auburn student means.
What’s your favorite Auburn memory?
I graduated from Auburn in 2001, so I have tons of wonderful memories from my time here. A few of them include football games (of course), rowing on the crew team, watching “Days of our Lives” at Foy everyday (it was a thing), the free concerts and events, watching freshmen navigate Haley Center on the first day, and hanging out on the concourse. I know people try to avoid the concourse like the plague now, but back before Facebook and Twitter it was THE place to be seen. I met so many wonderful people there, and most of us still keep in touch.
In your opinion, what’s the best thing about Auburn Honors?
You of course! I am consistently amazed at your level of maturity, dedication and understanding of the world around you. You make my job easy and interesting!
What’s the best advice you can give to an Honors Student?
Participate! Auburn has so many wonderful organizations, events, and activities. It’s a great place to meet life-long friends, and by participating you can’t help but become part of the Auburn community. Plus joining organizations allows you to grow both socially and emotionally and it looks great on a resume. So basically the benefits are endless.
Do you have any hobbies, and if so name a few!
I just bought an older home in Opelika, so my current hobby is renovation and restoration, however I do enjoy hiking, camping, cooking, and going on mini-adventures with my friends. I’ve got some stories!
